Students in India can attend either private or government medical universities across the country. Each state has its own authority to set and conduct MBBS admission on a yearly basis.

As with all areas of the country, students with an interest in obtaining an MBBS in Gujarat have several steps to complete before they can earn a seat. The number of seats per year is determined by the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) in Gujarat.

All determinations for an MBBS in Gujarat are based on both the All India Quota, which is 15%. The MCC completes the centralized counselling based on the specific scores for that year in the NEET UG exam. The remaining 85% is allotted by the ACPUGMEC based on the ranking in the Gujarat NEET admission.

Admission Considerations and Criteria

Any student applying for the MBBS in Gujarat must be careful to monitor and respond to all steps in the process by the specific published dates. This includes the rounds of counselling, payment of fees, filing the required documents, and meeting all eligibility criteria. Once the window for these dates is closed, corrections or additions to the application are not possible.

As with most other states, students must be domiciled in the state at the time of admission to the MBBS program. Students will need to provide Indian citizenship if their parents are not living in the country or do not have citizenship. Students must also meet the NEET qualifying percentiles and NEET cutoff scores to be considered an eligible candidate.
