The number of accidents happening in the workplace has made us look at job safety closer. In the past, if an accident happened, it was presumed to be the employee’s fault. Today though, we know as employers it’s our responsibility to ensure our employees are trained thoroughly and offered all necessary precautionary safety measures. Invest in Respirators
If you don’t already have some, we suggest you get them. In confined spaces, a respirator is necessary for all employees to ensure their respiratory wellness. This is an easy change, and a necessary one, to ensure your employees are safe from airborne dangers in the workplace.
Apparel and Helmets
Make sure you have helmets available to your employees, plants and factories are always at risk for falling objects. Gloves, disposable jumpsuits, and shoe booties all can increase workplace safety. Protecting street clothes and shoes from hazardous liquids is easy to do with today’s evolving technology. There are even disposable jumpsuits available now.
Fire Protection
Fire is a potential hazard at every job site so don’t overlook this one change. Make fire prevention a priority. Replace damaged electrical cords quickly and inspect extension cords before using. Clear out unnecessary waste paper and combustibles from work areas and sweep the floors of debris regularly. If you don’t have a fire escape plan, now’s the time to create one. Train all employees on it, and have practice drills periodically.
Providing a safe environment for our employees is our biggest responsibility. We can make workplace changes, pay for additional training, and even hire safety technicians to ensure better workplace safety, we’re not done though.
