Why Calipers Are Required for Weak Legs

Not everyone has been blessed enough to be born with a normal body structure. There are children who are born premature or have been struck by some incurable disease right after their birth. More often than not, these children are left with a distorted leg and have difficulty walking normally. Wearing calipers for weak legs solves this problem to an extent as the caliper supports the leg and the child does not feel pressure on any area. He can at least attempt to walk without requiring anybody’s assistance.

The ones who had been struck by polio during their childhood often have weak legs that cannot support the weight of the body. Calipers are quite useful when it comes to providing support to weak joints of the legs. Not only polio but the ones who have distorted features since birth can use calipers to walk normally. Many children are born with a club foot. To help them, doctors put on a cast to shape the foot before sliding the leg into a suitable caliper. Using calipers for weak legs gives a sense of independence to the child for he does not need to ask another person to hold him while walking anymore.

Calipers are easy to put on or put off and are long-lasting as well. There are several NGOs and organisations distributing right-sized calipers for weak legs without charging any money. One can choose from metal or plastic calipers as per their need. Walking with a caliper on is effective and there is no chance for the child to sprint his ankle or leg.
